What is the video type/processing?

Ok, apologies for this in advance, I don't have a clue how to describe this!

During the Wimbledon 2011 on the TV they showed a clip when they changed to a different court. It was real, but didn't look real, like a weird graphical look to it.

I have seen this before; they had the same type of videos during the Euro Vision for each country....

If anyone knows what I'm going on about I would be grateful if you could advise. As I said, I don't know how else to describe this.

Not as impressive as I was expecting after reading the links above :|

It probably looks good on the Beeb's broadcast engineering monitors (e.g. the new Sony Trimaster) but it's pretty useless on the web.

I don't know why they're bothering - IMO the whole idea is too gimmicky anyway.

Ahh yer thats it, there was a video clip/promotion video or something for a coast guard/sea rescue using this type of video... I been trying to find it most the day, ill look later and link it if I find it. It's a slightly better example then the ones from the BBC.

Cheers for the help though people.

It's strange. The effect has been about for a number of years but for some reason it looked like the TV channels in the UK just got wind of it this year, they were all using it heavily :)
