Yes
my uncle told me how to view system info and i found out that i have a strange proccessor "x86 family 6 model 14 stepping 8 genuineintel ~2800mhz" and i have two of them in my comp.

what is the proccessor, is it a pentium? core duo? xeon?

please help.

Download CPUZ and it will tell you more info on the CPU and ram.

If you press the windows key and pause/break you should also get details on the cpu on the 1st page.

Start menu > Control Panel > System. It should tell you what CPU it is.

Family 6 model 13 stepping 8 are Celeron M CPU's
Family 6 model 15 stepping 10 are Intel Core 2 CPUs

Cant seem to find a model 14 on wiki :S

And you haven't got 2 CPUs, you have one that has 2 cores. So I am leaning towards an Intel Core 2 CPU.

sounds like something like a Yonah so possibly Pentium dual core.
is that at stock or overclocked at all etc.?
what PC/laptop is it in?

Family 6 model 14 is Conroe/Merom/Allendale iirc, making the only 2.8ghz 65nm chip produced the Core 2 Extreme X7900 which is a mobile CPU.

But then it could simply be an overclocked e4xxx/e5xxx/e6xxx, best way to check is CPU-z as mcneep mentioned.

b****r, you're quite right :p

Just getting cpuz would be a million times easier here.

well could you kindly explain why i have two proccessors in the system information. if there was only one then it was say duo, also the laptop im on now has the same processor and theres only one but my comp at home has exactly the same procesor but there is two.

It is just the way the OS see's it, because it has 2 cores the OS just see's 2 CPU's.

My AMD 4400+ X2 (dual core) is the same and I confused me when I first built it.

As for the same chip in two PCs showing two sets of info, no idea! same OS?
