What is this?

I've been tidying up (i know, it's fatal) and have found a box of random camera bits, some of which is useful and some of it is less so. Much of it has been inherited from my father and his older film days.

I've found this and bearing in mind, I'm still new at all this photography malarkey, I don't really know what it is, if I could use it (with a 400d) and if anyone else would want it if I didn't/couldn't use it.

It's a boxed Plusblitz Synchro Eye Slave Unit.

I assume its to attach a 2nd slave flash unit to something, but from there I'm a little lost.

Any help greatfully recieved.

It's a little unit that will fire an off camera flash when it sees the light from an on camera flash (or any other flash for that matter). Very useful piece of kit - I know, I have an identical one.
