What kind of lens to buy?

Hey.

I was just wondering what kind of lens i should buy for good quality images of flowers, insects, birds etc. Would like it to be reasonably priced, maximum of about 300 pounds.
New to this whole photography thing so any advice is good advice.

Om no marco guru but i have had a play with 2 lenses that you might want to check out:

Sigma 105mm Macro
Tamron 90mm Macro

Not sure which is the cheapest to buy but a bit of snooping around on fleabay seems to show the Tameron beiong the cheaper of the 2??

Im sure other Macro specialists might have better advice but from my limited knowledge thats the 2 id say were up to the job.

You wont get great shots of birds with a macro, but for the flowers and insects thats what you want.

The Tamron and Sigma are both great and roughly the same price.

For birds you want a long fast telephoto ideally.
