What lens / Camera

I currently have a Sony DSC-R1 bridge camera which i am very happy with, however got a deal for a Canon 350D which i was going to give to someone else in the family however i was possibly thinking on keeping it.

It is the standard kit setup Canon EF-S 18-55mm F3.5-5.6 IS and the camera.

But realistically how good is the lens on this as know the lens on the Sony is very good.

The main reason i was possibly looking to keep the Canon is the 2 main reasons, Continuous shutter (14 frames vs 3 with the Sony) , Faster shutter and Bulb.

Would i be better getting a slightly better lens or is it good enough for general photography landscapes / Pets etc.
 
one thing i didn't understand is, how come that Canon 350D has 14 frames in continuous mode? You mean 14 frames per second?

Recommending new lens is always depending on few factors:

1. What do shoot
2. What is your budget

and i can add the third one

3. If you have a crop body, are you planning to move/upgrade to full frame body?

By answering those we can suggest/recommend better way, and for my experience, i recommend if you can stay with EF lenses for Canon and forget those EF-s even they are great quality and price, you may not get good deals later after long use, and why pay twice if you upgrade and then you are forced to buy another lens in EF mount, so save up even if it will take time and buy a lens that can live for very long on any body.

I doubt it :D It may shoot 14 shots before the buffer fills and it slows down.
 
With regards to Continuous mode it is limited to 14 frames in total at 3 fps

I will be shooting mostly landscapes / pets / Fast moving wildlife full range

With regards to budget not too much £100 or so bearing in mind this would be a 2nd spare camera to play with , as will be using my Sony for 90% of the photos and it is just 1 of my hobbies.
