What lens could I add to my range for full coverage.

I have a Canon 550D and have the following lenses:
Canon 18-55 IS Kit Lens
Canon 100mm Macro Lens
Canon 50mm 1.8 Lens
Canon 55-250 mm Zoom Lens

After just been on a course the instructor recommends upgrading the kit lens which I am looking into, is ere anything obvious I should be looking at to add to my range, I like macro, landscapes and portrait shooting, so what do you think am I covered at the mo?
p.s only getting into this so L series are out of the question lol....
 
Well, you're covered from a focal length point of view. What is it you want to achieve?

- Better image quality but better zoom
- Wider aperture for better depth of field

What's your budget? Generally, the 3 most recommended upgrades from the kit lens are (in increasing cost):

Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC
Canon 15-85 3.5-5.6 IS
Canon 17-55 2.8 IS
 
Thanks Andy, I do like the lenses I have apart from that kit lens to be honest so guessing of of the 3 you mentioned should sort me now, going to check up on all 3 now, any good sites you know of where they do in depth reviews of lenses????

should get you started. If I can sum up the findings

17-50 non VC, good cheap lens, good wide open, but some quirks to operation
15-85 excellent optically, excellent IS but a "slow" lens.
17-55 excellent optically, fast lens, perhaps a bit heavy when put on the xxxD bodies

Many thanks for the page links, off to do some research, and I'd never even looked at a wide angle yet dammit more to think about lol
 
Been doing some serious research and my head is spinning, i'm thinking of just doing landscapes and shots of our expected baby throughout the years and portraits, now thinking I may just move the macro and 55-250 on and maybe buy either the 17-55 f2.8 or the 15-85 f3.5 which would allow me landscape opportunities and a good lens for general shots, what do you think?
 
Sounds good. Then add a 70-200F4 L at some point in the future and you're all set ;)
