Hi all,

Just curious really what lenses do you use (or have used) to shoot cars or other vehicles?

I'm talking stationary shots of cars either in a studio/garage or out on location :)

Feel free to post your best shots and state which lens you used! (just an excuse for me to drool over anything with an engine!)

Fire away :)

I use anything from my 10-22 to my 70-200!

Can't post any shots though as no home Internet at the mo :(

Agreed - 10- 20mm or 18-250mm it what I'd use, depends on the shot - location of the car etc

Do you not find the depth of field too shallow when using much over 50mm?

I would have thought getting the whole car sharp at 200mm was a challenge, or are you using those longer lengths to pick out and focus on smaller parts of the car?

Mainly my 50mm f1.4.

Not saying I shoot at 200mm (not unless moving) just that I use the 70-200 sometimes.

Depends what I want to achieve. On full frame, the 24-105 is most used assuming I'm indoors or space is limited. I'll use my 70-200 2.8 if I'm outdoors or blessed with lots of room. I'm picking up a 12-24 on Thursday which is good for a few shots, but care is needed to work with the distortion that occurs with an ultra wide.

I tend to use my Sigma 10-20 and Nikon 16-85. Find the Sigma great for getting up close and adding a bit of distortion to the pic.

wide angle - sigma 20mm f/1.8 if on a rig or maybe the 14-24, otherwise the 24-70 or 70-200.

shot with sigma 20mm f/1.8:
