What lens for canon?

I'm after budget zoom and could do with help deciding which one. All feedback appreciated.

sigma 70-300, tamron 70-300, canon 100-300, canon 55-250 ?

The last lens on your list is most often cited as the best bang for buck telephoto.

the Canon 55-250mm IS 1:4-5.6 came highly recommended, you can get this from Amazon Market place new for around £130, I got mine for £95 delivered from fleebay with filter and hood

Just as I thought. Next question is, is there a lot of difference between mk1 and mk2.
