What lens for taking pictures in rooms?

What lens do i need for my nikon d5000 so that i can take a picture of a room full of people unclose? I think maybe a fisheye? sorry bit lost lol

I wouldn't advise taking pictures of people using a fisheye :eek:

Could you explain what you mean by "unclose"?
 
upclose dam spell check sorry. There was a guy in a bar taking pics and the pics it seemed to show all the room but then could be used upclose. The lens was very curved at the front (as in more than my lenses) but don't know what it was

Ahh, you want a wide angle lens, something like a Sigma 10-20mm, although tbh I wouldn't recommend using one to photograph people and I certainly wouldn't use a fisheye lens for such shots....

Or maybe the Sigma 8-16, which does have a pronounced bulbous appearance, yet is not a fish-eye. Watch out for converging verticals.
 
thanks for the help guys. Ill have to try and find out what it was!
 
I use a 35mm prime, which is pretty good for parties etc.
