Sorry yet another daft question. I have a Nokia D60 and was wondering what sort of lens would I require to take photos like this?

The above lens should allow you to take these photos autofocus. But you can use other lens with the similar range manually.

Thanks for the replies. They look to be quite expensive lenses. Would something like this do the job as well http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=177026 “AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED VR II” as it looks like it may be a more versatile lens that I could use for other things as well but I really don't know what I'm talking about so am probably wrong :S

I think the tokina F2.8 has peg drive type AF so does not work on a AF-S camera.

There is a used Sigma F4-5.6 10-20 for sale on this forum that I am thinking of getting. They only thing I am worried about is how good it will be shooting fast moving objects in low light. Or is that not a problem as its such a short zoom?

Depends on the arena lighting, but generally, you would need a faster lens and by the looks of the image, a flash might have been used was well, because there's no motion blur in the shot every things frozen.

I don't think an ultrawide would be needed for that shot - a normal wideangle should be more than ample.

Which means that with the 18-200 you should be able to capture similar shots at the wide end - but this assumes the lighting will be good.

I would advise against looking for a one lens solution on your D60 though. A single lens is good for general walkabout stuff but if you know you will be shooting that type of shot then I expect the D60 kit lens would be adequate. Then you can spend the money on a better 70-300 lens for the close up shots of cyclists
