What lens to use?

I am off to East Dereham tomorrow to take some pics of the homecoming parade of the Light Dragoons (Based at Swanton Morley) and would love to get some good pics.

Not sure how close will be able to get (imagine fairly) and weather is forecast to be crappy......... anyone been to something similar - and what lens did you use?

Have a choice of

18-55
50-200
70-300
50

Am thinking the first two - but don't really want to swap about too much if I can help it. Nows the need for something like a 18-200!!!
 
that's not too many to take them all . just swap as you need to . It depends where you get to stand I guess.
 
Jobs like this I'd shoot with 24-70 and 80-200 using two bodies.
 
I would suggest the 50-200, but what is it? If it is going to be dark you might be better with something with a small aperture....

I'd say it depend on how close you'll be, but I'd forget the fifty as I'm pretty sure they'll be marching so might be hard to compose if they are on the move.....

Sure you can't them all?!
 
ok - good points - all wil all fit in the slingshot bag no problems, - though to be fair,

a) it's not a job - I am doing it as an amateur and as supporting the troops, (goig to welcome them back, so why not take the camera) but I am also guessing the local rag probably couldn't give a rat's arse, so if anything decent comes out will be sending the pics to them.

awp - unfortunately I only have one body, and neither a 24-70 nor a 80-200, so that option is out unless you want to lend me your kit for tomorrow morning.;)

For info have a pentax Km - the 18-55 and 50-200 are kit lenses, 70-300 is a siggy and the 50 is a Sigma prime macro........

All bagged up ready to go - though though better not take the 120-400 for fear they thought I had a RPG on my me!
 
You should maybe take the nearest you have to the ones I use. I find these two lenses (or your near equivalents) will cover 80%+ of shots I do. Two bodies just means you don't have to keep changing lenses - and maybe losing shots.
