For taking wildlife and dogs running in the field? I have a Nikon D3000 Camera !!

Take a lot of photo's of my Dogs working in the field and also enjoy trying to take pics of birds in flight

Any advise would be great(y)

55-200 vr to start. Great for dogs in the field. Will tell you what you need for the rest. And it is a great lens to have in the bag. It not long enough for serious wildlife, but you can do a lot with it and some skill.

Thanks,
rick

:plus1: for the sigma (bigma) (50-500mm) :)

Or if budget is tight, m42 adapter and a tair 300mm lens?
Adapter between 7 and 30ukp and lens between 50 and 150ukp

Slightly cheaper than the 600+ukp for the 50-500mm - but Manual focus where as the sigma is AF.

I have some pics on the flick link in the sig to the Tair lens (cropped and sharpened in most) and am still on the hunt for a decent adapter... :)
