What lens!

I have a d40, and I'm looking for a 50mm lens, good old nifty!

Been reading lots on here, and the issue i have is i need a AF lens formy camera!

So, should I get a 35mm like this one ............

Or pay more and get a 50mm

What are the main differences, what does each lens offer?

Definitely the 35mm. Gives you a much more useable focal length imo.

In fact I'd love a 30mm f/1.8 on my 40d. Wouldn't come off the camera.

So that means the 35mm will be a 50mm on this camera.

assuming you have the kit lens, set it to 35mm and give it a test for a day, then set it to 50 and give that a try too. which ever you think will work better

i found that a lot of people will suggest one, and another lot will suggest another. It will be down to personal preference. both lenses are good and sharp with large appertures. Just depends which one does what you need more
