Hi fellow photographers just wanted to ask what all your favorate lens is for an all round performance and why u chose this lens ? :bonk:

My Nikon 28 -105 AFD good quality and a great range for a walkabout.

I do however love my 85f2

Nikon 18-55mm. For a walkabout I generally like to walk closer to something (where possible) instead of zooming in. So I find 55 is more than enough for me.

I love my 'walkabout' lens - 24-70 f/2.8 It's a bit on the heavy but a great all rounder and even better on my wifes 5D MkII.

I love playing with the 85mm f/1.2 wide open too.

Whats everyones thoughts on a nice all rounder not to expensive lens for doing studio portrait work? :)

Staying with Nikkor, and thinking zoom for a bit of flexibility 35-70 f2.8D used, around £300. LINK

Was the Pro zoom choice for many years, and forerunner of the 28-70 / 24-70 models, it is a sharp lens with a nice colour tone.

On your crop body there is always the 17-55 f2.8 but that is going to be pushing your budget, and I would think a bit short in focal length on the long end, though the Tamron version is close enough optically, and a lot cheaper.

You need to decide around what focal length you want, all of the above are f2.8 which will help with subject isolation, its just if you want a bit wider (17-55), or a bit longer (35-70).

what do you use now?

50mm 1.8 :)
Although this is being superceded gradually as most used by my 24-105 because of it's range I still think the 50 is my fav.

Nikon 18-70 mm F3.5-4.5 G AF-S DX Lens.
