what monopod??

im looking to buy a monopod soon that must be capable of holding a nikon d80 gripped with sigma 70-200mm i would appreciate any input on this as ive never used a monopod n never bought one.lol also will i need a monopod head to? i only have a buget of about £60-£70 max for both the monopod and head, so what would be the best for this sort of price?

this is a great set up kkg load on the monopod and the head will take 5kg so should be plenty strong enough for your needs.

i already have that head at the moment (well the older version) as it has been replaced for a ball head on my tripod, would this head be ok or is it not a bit to fiddly n big for a monopod?

got one for my dad for xmas and its a nice bit of kit. the head is 90% same as the manfrotto 486RC2.

thanks neil i was looking at a manfrotto nonopod and head for about £80 but this is pritty much the same manfrotto mpod weight limint was 10kg and head was 6kg the red snapper is mpod 8kg and head 5kg for £50 less.

Had mine about 3 months, used it a lot, built well, light, flexible, extends to my height (6-2).

Very pleased with it.

A friend has a Manfrotto 680B which he uses with a gripped D90 and Sigma 70-200mm f2.8. I don't think he has a head with it, but the monopod is great and very strong and available for around £40.

That Redsnapper is a nice piece of equipment. I have been using it with my sigma 150-500mm lens on the camera and it works really well. Nice height and its very well built. I am sure you will enjoy using it
