What Monopod

Advice needed what would be a good monopod and head to use with a 500mm lens and is there any good websites anyone could recommend to have a look.

I bought a Giottos one at the Focus show for £30 then stuck a manfrotto quick release bracket on top so it takes the same quick release bracket as my tripod. I really like it and it is very sturdy but still light.

I use a Manfrotto 680B. It's quite heavy and I find I can balance my 100-400 nicely.
I'm still undecided about a head though. You could buy the monopod first and then make your mind up about a head.

Manfrotto here too, solid kit, well made. Mine also has mini tripod feet that pop out from the bottom if required for extra stability.

Have a Kood ball head that dwarfs the monopod, not expensive but again very solid.

Use mine without a head. Just a Kirk QR Platform on top of the monopod - which is a Manfrotto 5 section carbon jobbie
