Hi guys,

I really hope this isn't a stupid question and hope it can be easily resolved.

I got my D7000 on Tuesday and was thrilled with it, however I've noticed today, that when I purposely put a photo out of focus and then slightly depress the shutter to focus the picture, it doesn't fully focus? It is still slightly blurred through the view finder, and when i press the shutter button, it makes a weird click and the view finder shows r10 in the bottom corner.

The picture it takes is v.clear, as i'd expect to see, however the actual viewfinder image is blurred.

On live view it was blurred, until I held the shutter down for a few seconds then it managed to focus properly.

Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue? Is it hard to resolve?
 
Sounds like the viewfinder dioptre to me - somewhere next to the viewfinder will be an adjuster switch/wheel, which can adjust the viewfinder dioptre to suit your eyes. Either its your eyes that aren't perfect and it needs adjusting, or more likely, you have knocked it and accidently adjusted it.
'r10' is the buffer speed, it will always show as you click, its how many photos you can take before the buffer fills up - in other words, how many the cameras memory can hold while it writes to your memory card - only really worth taking note of if you are using the faster frames per second shooting when hold the shutter down and keep clicking.

As for live view - I never use it, drives me nuts so can't comment on that...out of curiosity, what lens are you using and are you sure its not just the lens motor [if for example its a VR lens] working?

Thanks for responding, I was literally just about to reply screaming "SORTED IT" when you responded. I found something online, twiddled the dial, and it's perfect.

You cannot believe the relief I am feeling now that it isn't broken ha!!

My lack of knowledge makes me :bang:

Need to get back into reading the manual some more.
 
I used my better halfs 40D the other day, and was starting to wonder if it had a problem 'cos the viewfinder was blurry :bonk: then the penny dropped!
 
This may be a universal been there done that :D
Usually wear glasses, dioptre adjusted to my naked eye as I prop my glasses on my brow to shoot.
Pub gigs.......vanity strikes, contacts.......camera up to the eye......Mike you blithering idiot :bonk: And even if I remember to adjust my main camera, odds-on I'll forget to do the back-up!

I almost binned a Zorki 4k for the same reason, I totally forgot it has a dioptre adjustment.
 
I'm glad it's not just me that has had this happen to him/her! That's a relief. I was weary adding the post up :lol::lol:

I'm 99% sure I'm going to get alot more of these things happening as I learn this new camera :bonk:

"When operating the diopter adjustment control with your eye to the viewfinder, be careful not to put your fingers or fingernails in your eye"

Watch out for the micro adjustments in the menu. Some D7000's need a bit of a tweak

You can program the back button to focus for you too

I actually had to grab the manual to check you weren't winding me up. That's amazing. The sad thing is, they probably had to put that because it's happened before :lol::lol:

I can beat that after last night, picked my camera up looked through it and everything was out of focus no matter what I did, no dioptre adjustment on the X-pro so it wasn't that, mucho head scratching later I decided to look on the net and noticed I couldn't see properly... by then I'm thinking "oh poo.. a stroke" or words to that effect :D

I then realised what the problem was, one of the lenses of my glasses had fallen out :bonk:

A classic idiot at the controls moment :lol:
