Doing another wedding soon was doing a bit of internet research,and came upon the idea of taking all the group photos first. MMMM good or bad idea ?.
what order when doing a Wedding

My routine once they come out of church is always Bridal party and then all the groups starting with the largest,then they can all sod off to the reception and get bladdered whilst I have time for nice relaxing shots with B,G Parents BM & Bmaids

Yep, biggest groups first, reducing in size till only the wedding party and parents are left, much easier to organise the various "Groom with Brides parents" etc at that point.
Sometimes do the grandparents first if there's nowhere for them to sit.

agreed.
depending on venue, we often do the confetti shot as B and G come out, then go straight for the big group shot.
then its bride and groom, with bridesmaids.
B and G bridesmaids, best man.
Band G , best man.
then bride and groom with various parents etc.
all the various relatives etc.
then we tenfd to do bride and groom with ihs family.
bride and groom with her family.
then Band g ith either ALL THEIR FRIENDS.
OR HIS FRIENDS
THEN HER FRIENDS.
makes the bride and groom feel special keeping them in the limelight so to speak.
and always go for "request" shots last.
theres always someone the B and G want a photo with on the day, that maybe hadnt occured to them before hand.
SHOT ORDER IS SOMETIMES DEPENDANTS ON VENUE TOO
and i do agree with bumping older relatives up the order if theyre frail, or theres no where for em to sit.
i always have a written shot list to refer to as wifey takes the set list, and tick em off as theyre taken.
that way, you dont miss any of the "required" shots if the order alters.
and of course hwen the list is done,
you can take the Band G off for the arty farty stuff , with no distractions.
if i wasnt so lazy, i would spell check my posts.
