What owl is this?

I have a friend who keeps a one in an aviary in his back garden, feel sorry for the poor guy really (the owl, not my friend).
I've been told that it is a Germainian Eagle owl, but google shows absolutely nothing, maybe i miss heard him? I did think when he said Germainian.

Anyone know what it is?

Although I did double check the book for the Turkmenian Eagle Owl, but they look to be a bit more browny.
