Just been on the blower with orange and im getting my C905 replaced with a shiny new one (orange care rocks ;) ) which has an awesome camera, af, wb, +-ev, etc etc.

Im also due upgrade next week

Anything else out there worth considering? I have been toying with the idea of Iphone 4 but the lack of proper flash is disappointing. Although pretty much everything seems to be geared towards Iphone these days.

What else is there that has good camera and a decent user interface? Ive never had a touch screen phone before but im sure ill get used to it lol

HTC Desire.

Lets you control iso, exposure, WB, metering, zoom, AF, Face detection, contrast, brightness, saturation, sharpness, etc etc etc etc....................

And thats before you install 3rd party camera apps!

Desire HD rocks, love mine, like Guess !? sold the iphone in favour of the Desire HD

Same functions as the Desire, but alot quicker and a nice 8mp camera with two flashes

im loving my iphone 4 with all the photography apps available. i have seen some excellent quallity images taken on the iphone 4 too and all the processing can be done on the phone aswell

+1 from me:clap:

Looks like the HTC is daddy then

lack of proper flash is a bit pants though. Is the LED flash in anyway useful?

My c905 uses the LED to focus then fires a proper flash.

Any with manual controls and a hot shoe:nuts:

What's the battery life like on a HTC Desire - everything I read seems to imply that you need to have it on charge every night... When my current phone needs charging more than every 2-3 days, the batterys on its way out. I'm not sure I could live with something that needed a mains connection for 8 hours a day.

Because the HTC phones always have background apps running aswell as the internet being constantly on (unless you switch it off) then it does eat into the battery life.
That said I run my internet on all day including browsing, send messages and make calls use live wallpaper etc and I can get two days out of the battery.

With heavy use I get a day tops.
A full charge doesn't take long if done through the mains.

Whilst the battery performance isn't tremendous personally I class that as outweighed compared to the phones functionality and am happy to pay that price.

So, would I be able to get 4-5 days away from a charger if I switched everything apart from making/receiving calls off? you know - treated the phone as a phone, rather than an all singing, all dancing small computer? Just for the occasional trip away from civilisation, you understand?

3-4 at a push I would say.

Ah, okay, so if I go for one of those, I'd need to budget for a spare battery or two. Sorry for the thread hijack - but i'm trying to get a grip on more modern phones - don't laugh - i'm currently using a museum piece - Nokia 8210, but the idea off something that could double as a satnav, mobile music player and so forth makes the idea of spending a few bob a bit more palatable.

My SanFran was a bit pants for battery at first but it improved after a few cycles of charging.
You get used to being economical with phone usage very quickly though, it becomes second nature to turn stuff off that you aren't using.
I can make it last 4 or 5 days or 1 day with Satnav, musicplaying and Angry birds thrashing the battery..
