What prime lenses are there for Canon?

Yes
I am after a wideangle lens for my 5D. I am impressed by the quality of the 50mm prime f/1.8 and wonder if there is anything comparable in the range of 15mm to 20mm (but not a fisheye). I've got the 24-105mm L as my main lens but would like something not too expensive which is a bit wider. I know there's the 17-40mm but it's a bit expensive for something I won't use all that much and which largely overlaps with what I already have.

Only Canon prime between 15mm & 20mm is a 17mm TS-E (get a 2nd mortgage), there is also a 14mm f2.8 L but it isn't cheap either!

You could get a 24L TS-E, whilst this only has the same focal length as your zoom, you can shift it 11mm in either direction, take 3 images and stitch them together.

like this:

Which when merged in CS4 gives this:

I have had a 24mm 1.4L and it was super sharp!

but expensive

17-40L in not only the best choice, but pretty much the only choice. It's a great lens on full-frame and very popular. I would welcome the overlap. 16-35L is a lot more money for an extra stop.

Or Canon 20 2.8, or Sigma 20 1.8 primes are faster though. 4mm makes quite a difference at that focal length.

Given the subject and the OPs question I would have to disagree with you :)

Which is why I listed the only other prime options within budget, should the OP have a sudden lapse of sanity :p

All a bit pricey, I was hoping to stick with Canon as I had a bad Sigma lens recently. I think the 17-40mm is the best bet since I can use it as a walkaround as well as just for landscapes.
