What shoulder bag?

Yes
I'm getting fed up of carrying around my big rucksack for the day when photography is secondary. I'd like a shoulder bag (1 big SLR w/lens and 1 extra lens, space for accessories).

Open to suggestions.

Preferably in the shape of the Crumpler Pretty Boy range.

I reckon a Crumpler Muffin Top 7500 would suit your needs perfectly, and by chance some nice chap has one in the 'for sale' section ;) :D

O.K, it might be a bit big for your needs, but in the grand scheme of things, it's a great bag. It holds a lot, but it's still pretty compact, and I don't like the look of the smaller ones in the range (a bit less like a shoulder bag, more like a handbag!). I've got some photos I can point you in the direction if you want to get an idea of size?

If you only want to carry 1 additional lens, and some accessories, maybe the 5500 (or XXL) would suit you better, but crumpler are really optimistic about what can fit in their bags!

We've got the Pretty Boy 4000, and we can just about squeeze a 400D with Sigma 70-300mm attached, plus a spare lens into the main compartment, and theres enough room for cards and batteries in the small pocket. Thats about it though.

I have a Billingham that I've used for over 30 years - still going strong - truly made to last.

The redsnapper bags are good and a very reasonable price too. I have the big canvas(ish) one, but there are smaller ones.

Im after a new bag myself, want something not too big. Has anyone bought one of the smaller Redsnapper shoulder bags? would like to know what there like.Cheers.

Ahem chaps or indeed chapesses.. link A lovely Lowepro Nova 2 meeting your every shoulder bag need. OK, not the sexiest bag in the world, but has a space for every gizmo you would ever want in a walkabout bag. And it's not just an ordinary Lowepro Nova 2 it's an ALL WEATHER Lowepro Nova 2 for those less than moisture free days. Can't go wrong....

It'll last you a lifetime! :)

It feels that way! I ummed and ahhed for ages as they're not cheap but am very glad that I went for it in the end. Got a black one so its pretty discreet.
Its 'only' the 335 but has tons of space - have to resist filling it with kit!

Will be taking it out in earnest soon so hope its still positive after lugging it around all day!

I was in the exact same position and posted on this topic a few weeks back. Also in this thread.

For me I wanted something subtle so it was the crumpler muffin top 7500. I initially thought that this was going to be too big, but it definately is not. You could get the smaller ones as suggested, but I would stick with the 7500 size.

You can get a better idea of the dimnensions here with the DVD case by the side. This bag is fully loaded at the moment with a gripped 40d, 12-24, 430EX, and attached 28-75.

Although it is fully loaded it is still extremely comfortable to use.

HTH.

I'd say a Billingham too. I use a Packington for my daily carry around bag, I also have a 550 for my "lug the whole lot" bag. They all fit much more than you'd think inside and will last forever.
