I'm about to spend a large amount new gear.
I have had a quote from Jessops but where else should I phone for a price on buying the lot together for a better price?

I'm looking to get, D700 x 2, 24-70 2.8 and the 70-200 2.8 VR II.
Jessops have knocked about £100 off their total price.

Any suggestions would be great.

Thanks

Dean

digital depot of course ;)

Go to camera price buster and find the cheapest on there for the items. Then approach the cheapest few of those and see if they can do a further discount.

They quoted £6 more than the total Jessops price.

Ill try more tomorrow.

Thanks

really? PM Stuart on here (Digital Depot is the username). He sold me my D90 for about £30 cheaper than anywhere else I could find in the UK

Are you starting a business? If so, could VAT come into play?

I am indeed but ill only see that money later down the line.

Just trying to keep my setup cost as low as possible.

I PM'd Stuart and one of the guys from the store phoned me. They beat Jessops by a further £28 (would have been £20 more if I could have collected). Great service (cheers Jake and Stuart).

I have placed my order and am waiting for a call back with the tracking number.

Can't wait to give the kit a go and get to grips with all the extra functionality over my D40 :D

Fingers crossed it will all be with me tomorrow.

Edit: just been told it should be tomorrow :D

glad you got a decent price - digital depot are great.

And...wai..what? you're upgrading from a D40 to two D700's and a 70-200 VRII and 24-70 2.8?! had a little windfall recently have we? ;)

I've always found Grays of Westminster to be extremely competitive on Nikon gear. I doubt they'll give you a discount on a package because their individual prices are already low (at least they've always told me that, no harm in you trying!)

not saying you're wrong but based on the price of a body only D90, DD were cheaper for me by £50 - and thats delivered from DD and undelivered from Grays

I've no doubt you'll find individual items cheaper elsewhere but across the board they work out well, and the OP is asking for a fair bit of kit. Can't hurt to ask, eh?

In which case Jessops and their 12 Months Interest Free Credit will probably be the best option at it will free up a hell of a lot more cash than I suspect any discount would allow.

Even if I could save say £50 or even £100, at the money you'll be spending it's far better to have that capital in YOUR bank for as long as possible.
