What sticky tape?

What tape can I use to mask off grids, label flash heads, etc.? Preferably something that sticks well, available in a range of colours, and does not leave a nasty residue!
 
Have you used it? Not sure its available in black, for example, and the lighter colours might pass light. I'd want black for masking, and other colours for colour coding.
 
Mosy masking tape I have met cures. If you leave it on long enough dynamite will not shift it.
 
How about using peelable labels. You can use them for their intended purpose or cut them into strips to use as you see fit... and of course they peel off when you want them too.
 
A decent quality masking tape usually states how long you can leave it on, before the adhesive becomes a problem. The last roll I had was safe for 3 months.

Kartracer - I've not seen black, but I have had dark blue.
 
Proper gaffer tape (not duct tape) is what you want, it doesn't leave residue behind, duct tape does.

Oggy is correct about masking tape, it's not designed for long term or repeated use the way gaffer tape is - ask any spray painter and they'll tell you it's a nightmare to get off if it's left on too long.
