What to buy?

I need some help, I mainly shoot people as that seems to be what I am good at. I like taking scenerey but things never look as good as I would like.

I want to upgrade from my Nikon D40, I have a couple of extra lenses so not fussed about lens kits. I use a Nikon 18 - 70mm for most shooting and a 55 - 200mm for zoom work.

I have been toying with buying a Nikon D90 but am not sure if that is too old now and I should go for a D7000.

Has anyone got any suggestions for me or advice.

I got the 18-70 from ebay for about £100. I think it is one of the best purchases I have made.

I would rater get a new camera and you cans till get D90's body only for about £539. I don't think I would want an 18 -105 kit lens unless someone can tell me that it will be better than what I have.
 
Many thanks, has anyone else got experience of the D7000 and D90?
 
I have a D90 (upgraded from D40 via D80) and firmly believe it is the best bang-for-buck you can get with Nikon's name on the front ... but then I'm biased :D

I did look at the D7000 but couldn't justify the extra cost - it just doesn't give a big enough advantage over the D90. When I was looking to upgrade from the D80 the D300 was top of my wish list and if I'd had the cash at the time that's what I would have bought but I'm not even remotely disappointed with the D90 :D
 
I went from d40 to d7000 last November and it was one of my best purchases ever - and this was when the d7000 was £1100 body only

At current prices I would have no hesitation in getting a d7000, it will still be a smashing and feature rich camera in five years time
 
Cheers for all your advice, I have decided that the D7000 will do me better in the long run.
