Hi all not sure if this is in the right part of the forum but here goes.

What do you good people do if you buy a lens and it never gets looked at?

The reason i ask is i have two lenses sitting in my bag i never seem to use. I pull them out now and again but just keep going back to my regulars.

One of them the wife bought as a gift and it has been on my camera four times if your lucky the other i bought thinking i would use it but it just something i tryed and cant seem to get into.

Would you keep them or sell them?????

I'd go out with each lens for a whole days togging (one lens only, leave the rest at home), and force myself to use it for a full day across a spectrum of places / genres. If I then get home and can't see anything extra in the shots I've got, then I'd sell it and try something else.

Obviously if it's a macro lens, then you may not have to go far from home :D

Have done with one Defiance and seen nothing special, The other is a macro lens and thats the bit thats getting me i cant seem to keep it on my camera as it does'nt do it for me.
But on the other hand i might wish i had never sold it one day. I am looking to buy a new flash and wondering if i should get them sold and put my money into something i will use.

Chumpalot, one is an 18-200 and one a macro.

Is a tough one, I have an sb-800 but don't use it a lot because of the low light capabilities of the D90, so it tend to sit in my bag a lot hardly used atm.

For macro, you really have to find things to do or projects for it, and want to really do close up photography. What have you tried with it so far ?

Well i bought a Jessops flashgun when i got my camera new just thinking £30 cant go wrong and i use it a fare bit and this is why i would like to get the sb-900.

The macro i have tryed just about everything i can think of, dont get me wrong the pictures are cracking but just feel its not for me, the flipside to the coin is it is a good portrait lens too as i have taken some nice shots using it for this alone.

Sounds simple then, portrait only with that lens vs. upgrade flash with good usage potential ;)
