Scenario..

You just flogged a lens, you have just under £300 sitting in the bank, your happy with the lenses you have, don't need any accessories and have no where near enough for any lens you might want.

What do you do?

Buy your niece a flashgun and tripod - invest in the next generation of photographers :)

Save it for a rainy day...You never know what you will need (want) when something new hits the streets.

I would save it for a rainy day as we don't do expensive gifts - £50 max for family, my own kids (don't have any yet) would get a little more. But that is me.

Save it for a rainy day or look for somthing that you could all share and use

Well in the end I bought the niece a metz for her K200D, an IR remote, 3 sets of eneloops and a fast charger, plus she will get my sherpa tripod as I don't really need two these days.

Gonna try and find a reasonable priced, fungus free sigma 400mm APO for my brother's Nikon as he's off to Africa next year for a bit with his other half.

That leaves me with nothing for myself, but I'm not bothered, there's nothing I actually need and I have a very expensive taste in wants lol.

I think thats a very nice and generous way to spend the cash. Karma and all that.

I voted for saving it, as there's no option for: "treat yourself and the Mrs. to a decent night out".

It's not all about photography - have a 'life' as well...

Or buy some books to read - kick the ass out of iTunes purchasing, anything.

No missus Rob and no social life due to the being stuck in bed bit so my hobbies tend to dominate things, there's nowt else to do really.

I have been building a little library of books and also collecting a few old photographs/camera's.

I relented in the end and picked up a cheap Tamron 70-300, it will give me better reach for the moths and insects in here.

Your niece is a lucky lass ( so's your brother minus the female reference), and you are getting soft! :D

I enjoy reading your website btw! :)
