What to do?

I've been getting much more into my photography of late, primarily since the purchase of a 50mm f1.4 and a Sigma 10-20mm. I have had my 400d for 4 years now and it has been a trusty servant, but i find myself wanting to upgrade at this stage.
I am shooting a variety of subjects, from motorsport to landscapes, nighttime shots, to car photography.
My friend who is a semi-pro (and nikon user) has advised me to go FF and probably the 5D Mk2. But i have been having a think about what might be the best way forward.

My current lenses are:
Canon 50mm f1.4
Sigma 10-20mm f3.5
18-55mm non is kit lens
Canon 80-200mm
Canon 35-135mm (from my dad's old film EOS)

After using the 50mm and the 10-20mm, i have found the image quality lacking in the other lenses (particularly the 80-200mm) and would like to get much better IQ in the future.
I also intend to start shooting wildlife a bit more (esp birds) and I will be watching quite a few rallies and the Monaco and Italian GP, so would like a lens that would be ideal for good shots from these.
My reservation about upgrading the camera body to a FF would be the loss of use for my 10-20mm as it seems that this wont be a workable combo. I have really been enjoying using this lens and would not be happy to render it useless at this stage.
So my question to you, is where to go from here. Do i upgrade the body to a 5d and buy a longer lens, or upgrade the body to a crop sensor and keep my current lenses. Or do i keep the 400d body and buy some new glass to go with it.
I just feel that a jump up in camera might spur me on to greater things, and i would like a higher iso performance.
Budget isn't necessarily a problem, but i'm not about to go out buying up hassleblads.
Any advice appreciated, and if there is any further info i could provide to help out with an answer, please say so

sounds like dump the 80-200 and upgrade to a 100-400. That will cover the motorsport and wildlife on your current body.

While the body may be old (and I don't know canon much) there were quite a few wildlife photographer of the year winners using it in 2011. So I think it is probably ample.

cheers for the response. I was also having a look in the classifieds at a sigma 150-500mm, which seemed like a hell of a zoom, but was perhaps a bit slow.
Any other thoughts on this? I'm still very tempted by an upgrade, but not so sure of which body to go for

Get a used 40D, you should get one for about £300-350 or if you want to splash out get a 7D.
Canon 15-85 IS and a canon 100-400
That combo together with your 10/20mm and 50mm will do just about anything.

If you want to go full frame and the loss of your lovely 10-20mm is all that's stopping you could buy a 17-40mm which will give you pretty much the same field of view as your 10-20mm. Or you could get a Siggy 12-24mm and go even wider.

There... your problem is solved

My problem is that I insist on having a built in flash so I'm stuck unless I switch to Nikon. If there was a Canon full frame camera with a built in flash I'd have bought one the day it hit the shops

If you are looking at doing wildlife and motorsport FF isn't ideal.

What do you feel is restricting you with your 400D?
