What travel company to use to go to Norway to see the Northern Lights?

I'd like to go to Norway this January to see the Northern Lights.

I have a question for those of you who have been or are planning to go. There's a bewildering range of large and small travel companies to use, or even the opportunity of going it alone (eg Expaedia)

What are your experiences and who would you recommend?

you looking for one of those flights that last a few hours, or a tour up there that lasts a few days?
 
I went to Lapland a couple of years ago with Neilson - they go to Norway too.

They were fine - not perfect, but I'd probably use them again - holiday reps were OK; UK staff were rubbish at answering questions.

We found that it was far cheaper to organize activities locally in Finland.

I've traveled independently in the wilds of Norway and Sweden in summer. For a first time in an Arctic winter (and with two young children) we chickened out and went for a package.

BTW - we didn't see an aurora during our week stay (January) :'(
 
Nigel are you 100% set on using a tour company rather than planning it yourself? If not then I would say plan it yourself. You would get much more flexibility and it's half the fun! :D
