What tripod

Hi, after my old tripod fell apart literally being used for the last two years and costing a mere £20 I'm need some help in getting a new one. Not sure about the types of head but looking for something quality around £100 in cost, must be able to spray down to get low shots. Looking at redsnapper as this is in my price range with good feedback. Mainly used for landscapes and will be lugged up hills down through water at the coast so needs to be robust. It's the heads I'm having trouble with - not sure about the ball socket type, my old one was pan and tilt and could be a pain at times. Please help, don't want to waste my much hard earned cash

Is it possible to double your budget to 200?

You want something light and stable. You are looking at over 200 for a decent carbon fibre one.

Not really at present, like everyone feeling the squeeze. Could possibly make do and save a little if its worth the investment and time. It's like everything you pay for what you get really.

I paid about £39 for mine in 1978. I was doing labouring work at the time during the summer break from university. It was about a weeks wages.
I wonder how much that would be nowadays?

Check out the usual Gumtree and Freecycle before you buy.

Just found some Manfrotto and Giottos tripods for under £100 in the Edinburgh area.

And you still got it after all this time Ken? If so sounds like a good investment. A woman at work gave me a giltzo tripod I was so happy, first time I took it out it fell to pieces and one of the legs won't extend so very small. I didn't like to tell her as she said her dead husband loved his tripod and she wanted it to go to a good home. True story.
