What type of Diffuser should I use

What type of Diffuser should I use for my setup, Canon 50d with Sigma's EF-530 DG super-electronic flash with Sigma 150mm Macro.
I have bought off ebay a bracket to mount the flash off to the side, I will be taking mostly Butterflies and insects etc.

Cheap and cheerful to experiment...........try using a bit of white kitchen paper towel over the flash, held on with an elastic band and increase the thickness to see the effect.

Some people use a polystyrene cup over the flash, or a bit of plastic milk bottle.
