Yes
Just wondering way you use the camera to focus on an off centre subject?
A- put the subject in the centre if the frame, 1/2 press shutter to focus and then recompose

B- frame the subject off centre where you want it and use selectable focus points?

C- is there another way
I would sometimes use spot metering so B tends to throw the exposure off for me

How do you all do it?

I focus on the subject using a central focus point. Lock the focus then recompose. Basically doing what had to be done when 35mm SLR all had manual focussing only.

Depends on the situation, I'll use any of the available methods depending on which I think will give me the best/easiest result at the time..

A - the centre point is usually the most accurate, if the depth of field is not wafer thin and the light levels are poor this will frequently be the easiest way. The problem is if you change the distance to the subject when recomposing, no problem as long as the depth of field is large enough to compensate, but this can be a problem with very wide apertrures and short working distances. Rather than half-press on the shutter, consider enabling back-button focus. It takes a bit of getting used to, but will then come naturally.

B - if you can map the focus point selection onto a stick-type button so that you're not cycling through every point to get the one you want, then this is a very quick method.

C - manual focus, a change of focus screen can make manual focus easier when you're using fast lenses.

I like the mapping idea and never thought of that, thanks for the replys
