Hi,

I have almost sold all my Nikon stuff, so I need a new camera. I really like Fuji x100, but no loom. So do I buy Fuji x100 and x10? Or do I spend a bit more money and get Fuji x-pro1 with 35mm then buy a zoom lens when it comes out?
 
Have you seen the x-e1? That will be out in a month or so with the same sensor and a EVF but cheaper. Will be about £700-£800 hopefully.

Do you know what the main differences are between x-pro1 and ex-1?

It doesn't have to be Fuji but seems like a lot of people here have one of them, what do you suggest? Thanks

Nothing really. The xpro has both ovf and evf but the ovf will be redundant with the zoom lens anyway. the x-e1 has a better evf and faster AF, but same sensor.
 
I'd wait for the xe1. I love my x10 as a second camera alongside my slr, but it's arguably a bit limited as a main camera IMO, especially if you're used to an slr. X100 looks lovely if you're happy with a fixed focal length, and the xpro also looks fantastic but a little pricey. Xe1 is potentially the best compromise. Not sure how it will compare to micro four thirds cameras like the Panasonic G series, or the Sony csc cameras.
 
Well if dpreview iso comparisons of the xpro are anything to go by its beats the d800 and 5d3 with less noise than both of them at 6400. Images look a little soft though. This might be down to the 35mm lens used, the digitalrev review of the lens said the same thing.
 
Understand why the XE-1 can't have an optical viewfinder but it is the best feature of the X100 for me. It is the best viewfinder system I have used and not sure why DSLRs don't have the same overlays, it is clearly possible.
 
This shares the nex7 evf so i would imagine the whole evf experience to feel better on the is than the x100.

There claims when releasing the new sensor was it competes with FF, and looking at iso comparisons they better them! its amazing! Has anyone else compared the xpo with other cameras on dpreview? The only thing that worries me is the softness of the image. The x10 seems to be very soft too, I'm wondering if there has been NR applied. The x10 looks so soft you can not see the lines that form the queens face on the bank note.

Brendon, I'll bring along the x100 for you to have a play with when we meet up later. Its a fantastic camera for a very good price. But the XE-1 is of course more flexible. Depends on how you find 35mm. Id get both :)
 
Sorry to interfere but am seriously considering the XE1 too. The price I saw at cliftons at 1399 was a bit high but at 1099 I will probably jump on it. Having said that what is the problem with the 35mm ?? Thought it was reputed to be fantastic

I'm just going on a dpreview iso comparsion i did last night the 35mm looked really soft but i'm not sure id it was because there was some sort of NR applied. The youtube digitalrev review of the xpro said it wasn't very sharp either.
 
That's a bit of a shame actually. Would have liked the 35mm as an uncomplicated all the time on solution . Hm... Thanks for the heads up!
 
Well I have bought a fuji x100, and will wait for the camera to out and see the reviews before I buy.

The X100 is a superb camera. I have one but will upgrade to a X-E1 in about 6 months time when the prices have dropped!:thumbs:
