Well.. I am probably going to get moaned at for this.. But what the heck...

From the information you have given us and no more.. i think your lucky the guest wasnt injured and was drunk as theres more chance of them suing you than you of them.. your setup is dodgy if you have to stand there and point out to every person that its unsafe (yes thats what your doing) You shouldnt have anyhting that anyone might trip over or whatever..

Just my opinion which obviously goes against the flow

I actually agree with this. If you have to stand there and make a point about a potential hazard, then you really should change your set up. being as it was a wedding, you had to be aware that you were going to come across at least one intoxicated guest. They're at a wedding, they're going to get merry, or worse, it's the done thing.

I still can't picture this 'leg' that was sticking out so much it could be tripped over. Don't suppose you could post a pic of it?

have to go through the claims process before I know much more .. seems to be ok so far though so fingers crossed!

I can't send any pics of the set-up as it's now been demolished .. lesson learnt
