Ok, to set the scene.......

Wedding of some friends, I am the hired Photographer, its a business transaction and not a favour, I do my usual, all day and all night so no time pressures whatsoever, just a chilled days work.

Had 1.5 hours set aside by the Wedding Planner which is WAAAAAYYYY more than I need but took advantage and got some stunning images.

I was approached by a girl, her friend and her friends ( Very Sensible ) boyfriend, not forgetting a Posy between the meal and evening guests arriving.........

Now the venue had some very nice private gardens........

I would like some photos taking before everything heads South, can you do it NOW, my friends will keep watch and make sure my hair is OK and the posy is in the right place.......

Erm, erm, erm - oh go on then - Art Nude, natural light at a Wedding - Awesome !

Should I have, or should I not have, bearing in mind I had made it clear to the B&G that if I had time I would take any shots guests requested, I had time, it was requested and the images are stunning, sadly I better not share them on here though !

Haha, should I put them in the final selection ;)

I think, as a bride, I would be quite annoyed with both the friend the photographer. I would think that what I was paying for was additional wedding related photos, not some guest to get their kit off.
So, I guess it depends on the laid-back ness of the bride (personally, I was a complete bridezilla).
Perhaps the bride could request your usual shoot fee from the guest?

L

I'd say no, too many ways it could bite in in the backside later with reputation, the venue, etc.

actually, I have to ask, because it is so bizarre on behalf of both the guest and yourself as the wedding photographer, is this a wind up?

L

Depends on the bride but what will it say for your reputation when it gets around that you were taking nude pictures of guests during a wedding?

I'm sure it was all above board but how will the story sound once it has been told from the sitter-aunt Flo-uncle Fred-Bridesmaids-bride-groom-grooms mums etc etc????

Much better to have booked it as a new job just in case...

Not a wind up, it happened, Bride was aware, as it happens its seems a few of her friends wanted similar but all bottled it, as I say natural light, so no real set up time, I reckon it took ten minutes tops ( 16 hours coverage ), location not identifiable in images and very private so no issue with venue. Reputation, well, not a big deal as the images will only be seen by the subject and honestly if the images I took ruin my reputation then I should give up, they are gorgeous !

It's not the images that you need to worry about, it's chinese whispers distorting fact into a tale of pervert tog that ruined a wedding. Of course that didn't happen but would you want to be in a position of having to tell people that?

My only reason to feel there may be an issue here is that you took on a second client, whilst on the payroll of the first. If the original client is aware and happy with this then I really don't see it as a problem at all.

I would certainly keep the two jobs totally separate though in terms of who gets to see all the images.

If the bride was aware and OK - then why not ..... just another group type request .... with a group of one and no clothes ...

Neither will forget the day - and if it was all professional - no problem -no need to get all stuffy about it

It's just...it would seem unprofessional to some people. I don't know. It's off somehow.
If you've got a whole wedding of super cool people who are fine with it, then fine.

That is exactly how it was, it seems the only person to not know it was going to happen was me !

Just thought I would post it up for peoples thoughts - I know this shoot will not damage my reputation but it opens another debate on Wedding Photography !

you are kind of drip feeding further information than was given in the op...

Agreed :(

Just read the thread and was thinking OMG! then as I read more and got more info and thought.. right so whats the question?

The answer is.. You (the OP) thought it was OK so it was OK.. :)

yes but what people would have done may change according to, for example, whether the bride was ok with it.
So the op is a bit, not misleading, but light on all the facts that colour one's judgement

i dont see a problem as long as there were no kids about who could have had a peep then i could see a big problem...mum..dad guess what i just seen...auntie sally with her........

Would it/could it/should it make a difference if the said girl had her top on or off its a picture at the end of the day but would i have done it..........not there and then no i would have arranged to do it at a later date just incase it upset the B&G OR THE VENUE

PS lucky sod

You must not be really comfortable with it to ask the question in the first place.

I would of said 'no' gave her my card and said book me.

mmmmmmmm whatever floats your boat I suppose lol

I would be afraid of my reputaion but if you think its not a prob then thats cool.

No chance of a peek I suppose [and i am a girl not a perve]

think i will head west...

If everyone was up for it and aware then I would not have a problem doing it at all, I've shot a fair amount of nudes and although a wedding is an unusual time to make such a request it all seems to have gone well and if the bride was Ok then what's to argue?

As for reputation, taking gorgeous pics of people is what we do and although unusual I think it's brill!

Personally I wouldn't have done it, too many things to go wrong.
Your risking your reputation (what if they were under age?) Then theres the payment issues, the B+G are paying for wedding photographs not a nude photoshoot, they could later argue you were not concentrating on their wedding and took on other work during it, and demand a refund.
If you were spotted by the venue they may have had a wobbler and thrown you out, end of wedding shoot.
Yes it is tempting, but you did take a bit of a risk.

but on the plus side you got to see girls with no clothes on!!!

In all seriousness though it depends on the bride. I / My wife would have had no problem with this at our wedding - to be honest if it got me out of wearing a flouncy waist coat I'd have been half tempted myself....

I've seen a few naked wedding shoots on a different forum so its been done!

Edit - sorry for raking up acient threads but this one was too good not to comment on!

I would have suggested it would probably be better without the flowers :)
