I have the following equipment.

Body:
Nikon D300 and D7000 (Both gripped)

Lens:
Nikon 28-70 f2.8 AF-S
Nikon 70-200 f2.8 AF-S VR1
Tamron 17-50 f2.8 non VC
Nikon 28mm f2.8 AI
Nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S
Nikon 50mm f1.8 AF-D
Nikon 135mm f2.8 AI
Tamron 19-35 AF f3.5-5.6

Recently just upgraded my sigma to a nikon 70-200 f2.8. Now i'm kinda interest on a 85mm prime or a wide angle lens. I will eventually move to FF but not right now due to funding etc.
 
Next for your gear is to save up for full frame.

Or perhaps the legendary 14-24mm Nikkor to complete your holy trinity.
 
Was thinking about a wide angle zoom to get that holy trinity and then a full frame like a used D700.
 
Sounds like a bad attack of GAS.

First thing to do is decide what format you want. If that's full-frame, then get a FF camera, and rationalise that pile of over-lapping lenses accordingly ;) Build from there.
 
Full Frame is a must but i will keep the DX body for backup and video work. Only sell the D7000 if i get something like D800 otherwise will keep both body, so therefor any DX lens will still be use. The only DX lens i got is the Tamron 17-50 and the 35mm f1.8 which i'm still keen to use on a DX body even if i got a FF camera, unless i got the fund to upgrade the 35mm to the f1.4G :)

That Tamron 19-35 f3.5-5.6 will need replacing for another FF compatible wide angle zoom.

The thing that puts me off on looking at a D600 is the body size. Full frame sensor is excellent but small body size (even with gripped) is not so good for me.

I tried using a 70-200 and 28-70 f2.8 on my gripped D7000 and it doesn't feel comfortable as my gripped D300.

Thats why i would prefer the D700 instead.
 
If your going to go full frame then it would pay to rationalise your lenses to match a full frame body.
Maybe its time to look back at your shots and work out what lenses you use and what just sits in the bag, then sell off the surplus to put towards your full frame body and any other lens you feel you will need.
 
I went full frame with Nikon D700 but kept my D300 for a while,but found i i use lens from 24 to 90mm the most,so sold up my D300 and FX lenses.
But if you feel you need extra reach maybe keeping one of your DX might be useful :)
 
Like i said their are no problem with my lenses if moving to FF =.=
The 28-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 is more then enough since those are the lens i use most. Just battling to get a wide angle zoom like 14-24 f2.8 to complete the holy trinity set first then move to full frame or the other way round lol.

Keeping a DX body is definity for me as backup and extra reach for certain stuff i do. I can sense i will end up buying a new FF body sometime in the future and keep both D300 and D7000 for video and backup body.
 
I'm debating a move to a D600 as well, but keep stalling...

Anyway, with tongue in cheek, you appear to be missing a macro lens and UWA, so get a Tokina 11-16 f2.8, and a Nikkor 105mm VR. If that's too much, get a Tamron 90mm which is also a decent length for portraiture. :D

You are bang on right about a macro and UWA ......

Did look into the tokina but their is something about the nikon 14-24 that I wanted instead. Macro lens i've haven't look into any, heard the tamron 90 is very good and sharp but i'm more interest on the 105mm VR instead lol.

Their is something that i want all nikon lens instead except the 17-50 f2.8 tamron that i like to keep on the DX body :)

In theory i don't because i shoot 90% of the stuff on my 28-70 f2.8 and 10% on the 70-200 f2.8 and 35mm f1.8 prime.

A wide angle zoom will prepare me to move onto FF, a 85mm will let me complete the collection ....... and the 105 macro will be macro lens .........

Like someone said is a massive GAS attack but i think i do need a FF body first more then lens lol.
 
It may sound bizarre, but the best thing I did was sell half my lenses! I was spending too much time picking and choosing, over thinking it really, and not enough time looking through the bleeding things!

OP, surely the next step would be to take some photos? that way you might realise what you still need/what you can get rid of.

It seems you are collecting gear.

Time to take pics and scrap half the lenses.
 
I shoot video as well so those prime will come in handy. UWA, 28-70 and 70-200 will be the lens i use most for photography shooting.

85mm prime or UWA zoom is what i want but both surf different purpose in terms of use.
 
Get what you need based on your hard requirements. Therefore only you can answer whats next.

For anything not immediately apparent as being necessary... just rent them for short periods as and when you feel the need to play with something outside of your normal realm of usage.

I think i will settle for a 85mm because of price and will be handy for shooting video as well.

UWA is nice to have in the future when move to FF but i could use my Tamron 17-50 to cover the wide side for now.
