Whats the deal with ttl flash for fuji?

Was wondering how the ef-42 works especially in bounce ttl and if the auto focus assist beam from the flash works/is useful. Is it like using a canon or nikon flash unit? Does fuji yet have a way to control off camera flash from the camera?

Apparently the extension cable for Canon flashes works on Fujis, whether the same would apply to wireless solution is a different question though.
