Whats the difference between 500 vs 50?

Always been under teh impression that the 50 is just an armoured version of the 500. I own a 500 and wanna upgrade bu nt sure if the leap to a 50 is just far enough.

Ok 50D is better in a bigger solid body with more buttons, the little screen on the top, a bit more Fps but more then that what other advantages the 50d has over the 500?

Usability - the 50D has the back dial and joystick which the 500 lacks, so dialling in exposure compensation or adjusting both main parameters in manual is far easier, as is navigating menus, review and focus point selection. The 50D has a more capable AF system and higher framerate, shorter VF blackout, pentaprism viewfinder, interchangeable focus screens, AF microadjustment, etc. 50D lacks video, however.
