Been looking at the Red Snapper website - http://www.redsnapperuk.com/camera-accessories/Special_Offers.html

as I am trying to figure out what Tripod I should be buying, thing is I cant really see any difference between the two valued at £50 and to be honest I cant even really see any difference with the one valued at £100... I'm a guy who believes in 'you get what you pay for' but cant seem to see the extra £50 worth... can anyone help?
 
The differences are mainly how many leg sections there are.
The 283 has 3 leg sections, the 284 has 4. Both hold 8Kg.
The £100 one holds 12Kg and has 4 leg sections. It also has a different head.

The dearer one has different leg locks, lever style as opposed to twist style and a different design leg top / lock.
I was quite happy with my £50 tripod, it was solid and light enough for my D300, but I did have a Manfrotto 3 way head on it. I sold mine, but thanks for reminding me I need another tripod, I might just order one now......
Looks like if you buy the combo tripod / head you get a free head!!
Or is it just me?

Just to give an update. I also bought the 284 redsnapper tripod and am so chuffed with it. build quality is fantastic, would reccoment to anyone out there looking at getting themselves their first tripod/new tripod to seriously consider Red Snappers products.

How the hell did that happen? I ordered mine 3 days before you and it still hasnt arrived
 
Really??? I ordered mine at about 11pm on wednesday night and it came first thing friday morning....
if its any consellation you will be pleased with it when it does arrive... :D

Typical really. Nothing I order ever turns up on time, or when it eventually does, its the wrong thing.
2 weeks ago I ordered some recovery shackles, they turned up yesterday, only they arent recovery shackles but winch stops, so I have to send them back.
I ordered an optech strap which still hasnt arrived, and the tripod on the 26/27th that still hasnt arrived, plus a load of stuff from play.com for my wifes birthday today that hasnt arrived.

I ordered the tripod and head Wednesday and it came on Friday morning. Did you give your Postie a Christmas Tip?

We dont have a set postie. Its a different foreigner everyday, if they decide to turn up at all that is.
Ive had so much stuff go missing, Im soon going to refuse to buy anything thats shipped with RM.
Wouldnt suprise me if the b****r has taken it for himself.
