Using a 7D, shooting RAW, taking lots of bursts over a short period (Motorsport).

you should aim for the best value card, probably upper middle range..., and check the write speed of the card, and how fast the 7d can write to the card, plus go for atleast 16gb
 
60ms card should be ok for your camera, there comes a point where paying extra money for the faster cards is a waste of money as your camera can't write that fast to the card..... as for size 16gb / 32gb should be fine, might be worthwhile getting a couple depending on the number of shots you're intending to take.
 
I think I saw that the 7d can write at 50mbps, so is it pointless having one which is 60?
 
it should more readily cap out the camera's write speed, its worth paying a few quid more probably

But they are never actually write at 60ms (its like a cars 0-60mph time, you'll never achieve it) so that why I suggested it. I was talking about the latest cards which at 90ms, there's no point in buying one of those because of your camera write speed. Then its just down to how much you're willing to pay.

Yup, so there's little point in getting anything above 60MB/s (400x) unless you have a fast card reader (USB3 or ExpressCard) and want to speed up downloads. As for labelled card speeds - Sandisk state the write speed in their card designations, others will state the, faster but irrelevant, read speed.
 
Thanks everyone. I have a USB 3 reader, but I don't care about speed for the sake of 10 more when it's not going to effect the taking of the pictures.
 
There's a big difference between 60 MBps and 50 mbps. And where milliseconds come in, I don't know.
