As title really, this with a kit lens looks like a good buy? whats your opinions and the lens range like

not sure what the a230 is like, but if it's anything like the a300 i have great systems and can't go wrong with them.

have heard positives on a100, a200, a300, a700 etc. etc.

On paper it looks very similar to the previous a200, but some of the reviews imply that the IQ is a nice upgrade on the a200. Think Practical Photography had a review this month.

It's a general upgrade from the A200. I prefer how the A200 feels however but I can't judge the A230 it properly because I've never used one outside of a shop. Stuff always feels worse in shops but the grip doesn't seem to be very ergonomic.....

i've read that in a magazine too that ergonomic it's not as good as the previous model due to smaller grip handle part i think

I bought my A300 because it felt much better in my hands than the competition at the time (Canon 450D / Nikon D60). It was comfortable, I could reach all the controls easily, well weighted, etc.

I had a play with an A230 in a shop a couple of weeks ago - awful ergonomics :(. Didn't suit my hands at all.

apparently it was designed for people upgrading from a P+S & supposedly works for that demographic.
If you are an existing experienced SLR user the A5xx series has a more traditional grip as well as more control so is probably of more interest anyway.
