Yes
when i look on the internet i always see dell getting slagged off and saying that they are the worst computer manufactuer! but why is this?

i understand people have trouble with the customer service but i've found dell to be really good and there machines are powerful. having owned computers in the past ten years and in december i bought a dell inspiron and its probably the best comp i have ever owned!

so why do people find dell so shocking?

6 months ago, I would've said nothing, I've used Dells for years and never had a problem.

Then I bought a Dell Zino HD. Then it got replaced the day I bought it as it wouldn't boot up (didn't detect the hard drive). The replacement machine died 2 weeks later (same problem). That one's replacement died 5 week after arrival (same problem again).

So now, I have a £400 door stop.

Check the location of the commentators and I think you'll find your answer. Dell Customer Service have a lousy reputation in the US. Here in the UK they're pretty good. So most bad comments come from across the pond.

Have to say, their service to me was very shoddy recently. Took them over a month to finally cancel my order because the laptop I ordered didn't seem to exist yet they still took the payment for it off me. Still waiting on them to refund me. They'll be recieving a very irate phone call off me this week if they don't get the finger out. I'm not a very happy chappy with them at the moment!

TBH their cheap stuff is like everything else... cheap... but I'd much rather get a decent Dell than anything from the likes of Acer, Asus etc.

Problem is most people won't be spending more than £300-400 so will only ever experience the cheap Dell machines.

I love my XPS M1330 and the only thing that has gone wrong with it in 3 years is a loose screen cable. Dell nicely provide full reconstruction guides for their models so I managed to repair it quite easily (literally stick the cable back in properly and tape it back in place). Best of all if I'd have had warranty left the deconstruction wouldn't have voided it...

We use (at our school) Dell PCs/Laptops and I recommend them as their service and support is second to none.
You can chat (via a keyboard) to a Dell technician up to 10pm in the evening and if they can't fix it there and then they will be out to you the next day.
However, as important as that kind of service is, some aspects of Dell are a bit of a shambles.
Their web sites in particular and there are a few of them are a nightmare to find your way around although you do get the option to customize your PC to the nth degree.
All in all I rate them pretty highly.

We use Dell computers and servers throughout our company, mainly because of the good on-site support and they are fairly reliable machines. I also have 2 Dell PC's at home and have never had a problem.

Dell support is pretty good, but they have supply problems.

The kit itself is not bad. As reliable as the HP kit we use, but getting parts for upgrading servers seems to be an absolute nightmare.

Dell support is only good if you have paid for the good Dell support.

If you don't pay for the next business day onsite support package you will not get it.
