Hi guys, not new here, but new to the wedding photographer scene, not gonna do the whole my first wedding, any tips, etc, I know the drill...search the forum!!!!

But, have to ask for help on this one, have not seen any examples, etc...has anyone shot a wedding where the bride has been in a wheelchair? I know her, etc, so shouldn't be awkward or anything, but looking for tips on angles, or if anyone has had experience.

Please note, it will be my first wedding, it's not until december, and may have a couple coming up before then if people set the dates.......just looking for people's thoughts and opinions

Bit of a tricky one to answer personally as I refused point blank to use my wheelchair during the Church ceromony (meant I couldn't use crutches for a month, but was worth it). I'd suggest that on alot of posed images, that the bride and groom are at the same height. (For us, most of the posed ones, hubby and I were sat down cause I was hurting too much to carry on standing.) Also, I may be stating the obvious, but get down to the same level as the bride for alot of shots, don't be looking down on her as it emphasises her disability.

Since you know the bride, why don't you do a pre-wedding shoot with her and her husband to be? That way you'll get a little practice in the multi-levels and making it look romantic (sorry, tactful wording has gone, my words are all over the place today).

All good advice....... We have a session booked in to go up and visit, it's a huge manor house, with 30 acres of land, so will be plenty of photo opportunities I feel.

So important to get wedding photos right, and feel I really need to get them right for her, she hates photos, one the reasons she has asked me to do it.....may sound silly, just think i owe her some really great shots she will look back on and feel happy with

That's a great sentiment too :)

As Simon and Nat have pointed out the shooting angles are the ones to study so you can get them both interacting at the same level. Also well worth the scouting trip especially to make the most of the venue with wheelchair access.

The other thing I am shooting more of this year and might be worth considering is some nice tight head shots. Ones with a veil if she has one. Can be really evocative and does not depend on her being able bodied. Those CAN be shot from all sorts of angles and could give you some variety on that shooting angle.

Hope it goes well for you :)

Thanks Alison, something I have seen on various posts, etc.....and your right, could play major part of getting some fantastic shots

I'm shooting a wedding in June where the groom is in a wheelchair - if you remember to remind me I'll post some of the images after I've done it, so ask me in July!
