Thanks all. The blue was a last minute thing when I went to get the background I had in mind and saw it in the stack. It was jumping up and down shouting "pick me, pick me".

It does and that's exactly why the blue seemed a good idea, so I'm glad it came across that way. The idea of the dead flower being something beautiful is something of a contrast from the norm I guess, so having that contrast also in the vibrance of blue against the mutted flower felt right.
