where are tamrons primes?

I read somewhere that tamron was setup by ex nikon employer's frustrated with nikons reluctance to produce zoom lenses. Im not sure if its true, but it maybe the reason for the lack of primes in there lineup. Perhaps it doesn't fit with there ethos. I really like tamron lenses, small lightweight, cheap and usually sharp. Come on tamron make us some primes for under 200 quid.
 
Tamron used to make more primes than they currently do (only Macros) but dropped them because simply put zooms outsell primes by a large factor.
However, there is a recent Tamron patent for a 300/2.8 design but if it ever goes into production that won't be £200 ...
 
Yeah I know about the macros. I want 24, 35, 50 or similar.

I'd want tamron to do a decent beauty lens, like an 85 or a 135. I've never personally seen anything faster than F/2.8 from them..

They do make some of the nicest operating lenses however, the zoom mechanism on the 18-270 is very nice.

they do have one apsc macro lens at f/2

more would be better. ie. more competition is better for us

I'm just hoping tamron make a consideration to us as consumers knowing that we crave sharp glass and decent image quality and if the price is right we will go for it. I'm just about to knock my first L lens on the head, theres nothing from Sigma that interests me and Zeiss are way out of my league!

Tamron could atleast make super high quality zooms!

Zooms make more $$$ for them. 24-70 might not be super high quality, but seems to be very decent for less money than canon

The 300mm market is ripe for a cat for the OEM pigeons. The only real competitor is the 120-300 by sigma but Tamrons rep has been boosted a lot recently with their 24-70 VC lens and I've seen reports the new 90 macro VC and 70-200 VC are very good.
 
I remember a few years ago their 17-50mm f2.8 got rave review. I owned one and I think it was the sharpest zoom I've ever owned. As I remember they also made a 55-200mm for £80 that also got rave reviews.

Amateur Photographers reviewer (forgive me, I forget his name.... he died some years ago) had a problem believing it was so cheap.
 
Tamron has a lot of ex Bronica engineers, Tamron bought out Bronica a long time ago purely for their technical expertise when it came to lenses.

They still make it and it's still £80 (Well £89 but Currys were doing a 10% topcashback promotion so it was near enough £80 when I got mine a few months ago). Bargain! :)
