Where do you put it all?

So, you got the camera, the big grip thing, the little grip thing, the remote flash triggers, the spare battery packs, the two flash guns, the clamps, the film body, the lenses, the... and let's not forget the sandwiches!

Where oh where does it all go? No, start again.

*What* do you take with you on a normal "Think I'll go out and take some pics" day? A day when you don't know what to expect I mean - not when you are going out to do "trees" or "dogs" or "grunge" or whatever... and then, when you get home, where does your stuff go?

my dining room table (that only eversees food but once a year) tends to come in handy!!!!

other than that, the floor of the car (where my tripod seems to live) but only when there's no grubby dogs to stand on my stuff!

I weighed my new Lowepro Flipside 400 bag on Xmas day and with the tripod strapped on it was just over 18lb!

If I feel like travelling light it goes in one bag, otherwise my pockets get filled as well
I usually have some idea of what I will want and the 2 zooms cover most things!

Generally speaking if I'm going somewhere I know well and know the type of shots I'm after, then I take whatever lenses I'll need for that particular shoot. I have a smaller bag for this purpose. However if it's somewhere new, or if I'm going away for a few days, I tend to take pretty much everything - which then requires my larger bag. One of my tripods lives permanently in the boot of the car, just in case it's required.

thats 4lb less than our xmas turkey, you need a couple more zooms

If I need to take everything I use my nova 4 and sometimes a topload zoom with my flash stuff in it. IF it's just walkabout I just take one of my zoom bags (one for the gripped 40D and a Sigma 17-70 or the longer version for my camera an 70-200mm attached).

I bought a Canon 18-200is for these casual days. I found that I collected more and more kit until it all became too much, too heavy and too much trouble to take it everywhere so I sometimes didn't bother taking anything. Then I got a smaller bag and guessed what would be most useful to take but always missed the lenses I left behind Soon I will probably tire of the limitations of the superzoom and start the cycle again. I keep my "grab" kit in a small crumpler shoulder bag and store the rest in a larger rucksack when not needed.

Some stay in various camera bags, drawers, the others are lined up nicely around a non-functional fireplace .

The Lowepro Slingshot 200 I got is more than big enough to store all my kit. So I take everything with me.

Once my credit card recovers a bit I may have a similar problem though!

I tried using our Xmas turkey - made a right mess. There's no easy way to get giblets out of a camera lens mount.

Although the legs do make useful carry handles.
