Where has my Win 10 gone?

I have a HP Pavilion which came pre loaded with Win.8.1.
Before the deadline I upgraded to Win 10.
All went well until a few weeks ago when it crashed, after reset I now have Win 8.1 pro build 9600 which is not activated, I get a page pop up each time I switch on asking for activation key. A Belarc scan shows no key present.

Can anyone help get Win 10 back or even 8.1 or at the very least 8.1 pro. activated.

Thanks BW.

You can normally do the activation part over the phone on an automated service if you cnanot activate via the net, then I would guess you can download windows 10 again?

If you system recovered using the factory image you'll roll back to a state before the windows 10 install.

Best to take a backup / image of your system after the windows 10 install.

You can still get it online for free if you know how and it is from Microsoft PM me
You mean via the accessibility method? Don't think there is anything wrong with discussing that, it's a Ms "legal" method.

Yes true it is if you are a user of an accessibility tool.
Check it out here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/accessibility/windows10upgrade

So in theory anyone could download it free just by claiming to be disabled in some way..?
You don't need to prove it in any way from what I have read, and still get the full package ?

Blimey......

An accessibility tool can be something as simple as the magnifier, which many people use. You don't have to claim any disability. In fact, you probably don't even need to go via the accessibility route - it looks like you can still (according to a May 2017 article) just use a Windows 7 or later licence to upgrade with no special hoops to jump through:

It looks like MS has only discontinued the GWX tool and upgrade campaign, but left the licensing infrastructure in place. The 'deadline' was a nudge to get as many people as possible to upgrade, which is to MS's advantage, but they're not blocking latecomers upgrading, which is also to their advantage.

Many thanks for this, much appreciated!
