Hey guys,

Ive booked a cottage for a week at the begining of february in Betws-y-coed.
ive been there a few times in the past few years as my wifes grandad lives local to there,
im looking for places in and around the area that would be great to photograph ( landscape), ive visited swallow falls a few times but im going to go there again and get some decent shots of it as ive not been there with an SLR yet just a piont and shoot.

i would really love to get some great lake and mountain reflection shots, can anyone help me out with a few places for me to visit,

and maybe post some of your own photos?

thanks

Matt

Well where you have booked is spot on, Travel in any direction and you will see amazing things!

The miners bridge, just down from swallow falls. Take care though, the rocks can be very slippery.

is that the bridge where the kids jump off of? just by the outdoor shop?

ive spent quite a bit of time there,

the cottage im staying in is on that river, its actually at the bottom of the garden with no fencing, so im hoping to shoot some wildlife or even some salmon swimming upstream too

Hey, I made a similar thread and was pointed in the direction of a member called simonkit. Anyway, I PM'd him and he replied with some useful info (I'm sure he won't mind my re-posting this.) And you could always PM him yourself.

If you fancy coastal scenery then places on Anglesey are Penmon Point, Llanddwyn Beach/Island (my personal favourite for photography), between Church Bay & Carmel head, Cemaes...the list goes on

In Snowdonia then around Ogwen, Capel Curig or Llanberis would be my recommendations for photography/walking...there's some much great scenery the problem is deciding which of it NOT to photograph !! There's a few articles on my website under "Wales Tourist info" that might be useful too.

Llyn Mymbyr, right by the road at Capel Curig, from the eastern end you look across the lake to Snowdon. If you're lucky you'll get a perfect reflection of the mountain in the water. Look out for other people's tripod holes!

But really it's a stunning area and you won't know where to look next.

Llyn Padarn at Llanberis, Beddgellert and the Glaslyn Pass,Llyn Ogwyn heading towards Bethesda ,oh sod it head in any direction you will stop every 30 seconds in this wonderful scenery

No, the miners bridge is further upstream, probably about a mile.

Hi all--My first post.
As has been previously mentioned you are spoiled for choice however heading towards Snowdon on the A5 out of Betwys you will come to the "Ugly house"--take a right and immediately right again. You will find yourself on a forestry track that will take you up and over the range and eventually descend to LLanrwst. At the top you will find ancient mine workings a lake and of course forestry. The whole area is unusual and interesting---great views ---just not the normal ones.
Cheers.

It's a great area for photos in whatever direction you go. I love it down there.

hi mate, i live near caernarfon in the coutryside, and there is a VERY NICE pla\e to take pictures in Talysarn, (about 2 miles from my house).
It's called Chwarel Dorothea (Dorothea Quarry)

It is an amazing place to take photos, it is quite a hard place to find, but is very beautiful.

If you type 'Dorothea' into google images, i would imagine that you would get a lot of interesting pictures, the old quarry hole has filled nearly to the top with water, and it is non-moving so is glass-like when clear and there are a lot of old, broken buildings outside of the quarry.

......................

There is also a place called Llyn y Dwarchen near Rhyd-Ddu, it is a lake and its famous for having like an island in the centre of it. Its like a Whale shape!

Both are very beautiful places to photograph!!

If you would like i could show you where they are when you are here.

I hope you have a wonderful time around here in feb,

Dion!

thats great guys, thanks for you replys, im really looking forward to having a little break,

ive always been stunned with the photo opotunities there but never really spent long enough up there to do too much, we usually just go for the weekend,

and tbh never had the weather either,

i spent a week there in 2007, we done loads of traveling and pretty much went every where really but hardly got out of the car

great photos les

Hi DoubleT, I have just returned from a day or so in Snowdonia with my daughter - wonderfully photogenic locations I must say, just beautiful.

Here's some of my shots, not as good as most landscapers around here, but enough to give you a flavour of what can be taken.
