Where too trade ?

I am after trading in my 100-400L to go towards either a new or 2nd hand 5D mkii, can anyone recommend where is best other than in here lol ?

One problem selling the 100-400 just now is Amazon selling new ones for £1,110, then with the £80 cash back it's really £1,030.

I wouldn't hold out much hope for a decent offer from one of the 2nd hand "retailers". You'll get more from forums I'd think. You could try avforums.com

I asked regarding an 8 month old, UK sourced, brand new condition 24-70L earlier this year and had what I considered to be a very low offers of £550px from one and £600 px from another. I found both offers to be pretty much derisory considering that both companies sell used copies of this lens in the same condition as mine for £999 / £1,199 respectively. I had asked as I was considering a 100-400 or 70-200 and the 24-70 wasn't getting used as much as I'd thought at the time. I'm glad I kept it now though.

I'd say avoid LCE for the reasons given by Stuart. They offered me £150 for a mint 70-300 that MPB offered £210 for. Given they sell for £270-£300 at both places it seemed pretty poor.

LCE did however say prices will probably go up in the new year once Canon winter cashback offers are finished, so might be worth waiting if you can?

Mbp. Obviously they have to make money so it won't be as good a price as selling it yourself but they're very easy to deal with and will do trades.

I think that if trading with a shop a lot depends on location. I have noticed a few people saying don't use LCE. I have always had great dealings with my local LCE. Very good exchange prices and happy to negotiate.
