Which £150 compact?

Hi all - I have a friend who is looking to buy a budget compact camera up to £150. As I don't have a compact and have never really researched them, I was hoping someone on here may be able to point us in the right direction? :shrug::)

Any by fuji or panasonic are usually a safe bet. I'd send them off to their nearest proper camera shop so they can try some out, but go along with them so they don't get BS'd :)
 
Have you considered a s/h Canon S90? You should be able to pick one up for around that and it's a fantastic compact.

(I know - I have one, and I'm normally a Nikon man :D)
 
If is anything like my old lumix compact then yes it should be good. It also has manual exposure modes so it is definitely more flexible than a lot of compacts.
 
Hi. i bought a Samsung EX1 for my holiday, excellent for landscape-type shots, not so good for portraits (too wide angle) but I'm pleased with it.
 
My Mrs has a similar Panasonic a little older than that. we've had it four over three years now and it's been an excellent buy. Only problem i've had is trying to photograph extremely bright scenes (have to put it under your jumper as can't view the screen) or moving objects.
 
The TZ8 is probably the best of the bunch. I have the TZ65 and it's a decent performer, especially the long zoom.
 
Cheers for the advise everyone. I think it's going to be the TZ8. Having read a few reviews and looking at the price, it looks like a good little piece of kit.
